Version 1.5.2 (3 July 2024)
IMPORTANT
Acrolinx for FrameMaker version 1.5.2 isn't compatible with versions 17.0.0 to 17.0.3 of the FrameMaker 2022 release. You can only use it with FrameMaker 2022 17.0.4 and later.
Previous Versions
Version 1.5.1 (26 July 2023)
Sometimes the FrameMaker integration sent XML that wasn't well-formed to Acrolinx. This caused checking issues in some cases. We've fixed this, which means you can expect smooth sailing going forward.
Version 1.5 (17 May 2023)
This new release brings support for FrameMaker 2022 (17), improvements to the Sidebar, and a couple other bug fixes.
Support Updates
- We've added support for Windows 11.
- We've dropped support for our 32-bit integration.
Improvements
- Support for FrameMaker 2022 (17.0.0 to 17.0.3) - We’ve added support for FrameMaker 2022 (17.0.0 to 17.0.3). For this, we needed to stop using Internet Explorer in our Sidebar. Read on to see how this might affect you.
-
Removed Internet Explorer Components from the Sidebar - The Sidebar's Internet Explorer 11 components lead to errors, messages, and other issues when you had no Internet Explorer 11 installed. We've updated the Sidebar to use Microsoft Edge Chromium instead.
IMPORTANT
This is important if you're on Windows and use Acrolinx for FrameMaker. Windows users that are on Windows 8.1 or 10 need to download and install WebView 2 from Microsoft.
It doesn't apply to Windows 11 because WebView 2 is already installed.
Bug Fixes
- Copy and Pasting the Acrolinx URL didn’t Work - There was a bug that didn’t allow you to copy and paste the Acrolinx URL into the Acrolinx Sidebar. We've fixed this, so you can more quickly sign in.
- Some Character Strings Were Excluded from an Acrolinx Check - The conditional check for whitespace characters didn't work, which caused strange behavior in the check results. We've fixed this.
Version 1.4.1 (26 August 2021)
This is a service release to fix an issue that appeared when you updated to Adobe FrameMaker 16.0.2.
Platform Support
We recommend that you use:
- Acrolinx Platform version 2020.02 or later.
- FrameMaker 2019 (versions 15.x.x), FrameMaker 2020 (versions 16.x.x)
Bug Fix
Acrolinx Wouldn't Load
After you updated to FrameMaker 16.0.2, you'd see an error message instead of our beautiful Sidebar when you tried to start Acrolinx. We took care of this. With Acrolinx for FrameMaker 1.4.1, you can check again as usual.
Version 1.4 (3 February 2021)
We’re excited to announce a new version of our Acrolinx for FrameMaker integration. In this release, you'll see improvements to extraction and how Acrolinx parses your documents. We've also fixed a handful of bugs.
Want to take advantage of these new improvements? Don’t forget to update your Content Profile.
Platform Support
We recommend that you use:
- Acrolinx Platform 2019.08 or later
- FrameMaker 2017, FrameMaker 2019, FrameMaker 2020
Improvements
Improved Extraction
We now extract character formats in unstructured FrameMaker documents by adding additional information to the XML attribute for the charactertag. Once you configure this tag on the Acrolinx Platform, you can use it to create context-specific guidelines. This will let you extend more rule applications, which will improve your Acrolinx check results.
Improved Parsing of Structured FrameMaker Documents
We've included more XML tags in our checks and provided a simple fallback approach in case Acrolinx doesn't identify a FrameMaker XML tag name. In other words: This release lets you check more of your content in FrameMaker.
Bug Fixes
User Interface Language Would Change in FrameMaker Menus
You might've noticed that the GUI language for some FrameMaker menus changed after you installed the Acrolinx for FrameMaker integration into FrameMaker 2019. We've fixed this issue so your set language gets displayed.
Sidebar to Scorecard Inconsistency
In some cases, issues that you saw in the Sidebar didn't show up in the Scorecard. We've fixed this inconsistency. The Scorecard and Sidebar now display the same issues.
Check Selection Didn't Work Properly
Sometimes you'd check a selection of text that included both text from a table and text above or below it. When you did this, the Check Selection feature acted funny. We've fixed this. Now, the structure around your selection won't change the check result.
Upgrade Information
New FrameMaker Content Profile
To make use of new attributes and elements in context rules, update your Content Profile. Your current Content Profiles are still good because these aren't breaking changes.
