Before You Install
Check our Compatibility Guide if you want to know whether Acrolinx for Oxygen works with your local platforms.
Before you install, make sure you have the following:

Acrolinx is available for the many different flavors of Oxygen. You can choose between installing Acrolinx for Oxygen manually or as an add-on.
If you use the Oxygen XML Author Component, you can get the Acrolinx for Oxygen dropin from your company download area and follow the instructions on Using Plugins with the Oxygen XML Author Component.
Install, Update, or Uninstall Acrolinx Manually
Install
To manually install Acrolinx for Oxygen XML Editor and Author, do the following:
- Download the latest version of Acrolinx from your company download area.
- Close Oxygen and unzip the installation package.

Open the contents of the installation package so that you see the file
plugin.xmland the directorylib. Copy them to the following location:<OXYGEN_INSTALL_DIR>\\plugins\\acrolinxTIP
If the subdirectory
\\acrolinxdoesn't yet exist inside<OXYGEN_INSTALL_DIR>\\plugins, then create it.The file
plugin.xmland the directorylibshould be located at the top level of the acrolinx directory. - The next time you start Oxygen, Acrolinx will be available.
Update
To manually update Acrolinx for Oxygen XML Editor and Author, do the following:
- Download the latest version of Acrolinx from your company download area.
- Close Oxygen.

Remove the contents of the Acrolinx plug-in folder:
<OXYGEN_INSTALL_DIR>\\plugins\\acrolinx\\ - Follow the standard installation procedure.
Uninstall
To manually uninstall Acrolinx for Oxygen XML Editor and Author, do the following:
- Close Oxygen.

Remove the contents of the Acrolinx plug-in folder:
<OXYGEN_INSTALL_DIR>\\plugins\\acrolinx\\
Install, Update, or Acrolinx as an Add-On
Install
To install Acrolinx for Oxygen XML Editor and Author as an add-on, do the following:
- Select Help > Install new add-ons... from the menu.
- In the Show add-ons from: field, add the URL
https://updates.acrolinx.com/sidebar/oxygen/standalone/updateSite.xmland press Enter. - Select Acrolinx for Oxygen.
- Click Next and follow the on-screen instructions.
Update
To update Acrolinx for Oxygen XML Editor and Author as an add-on, do the following:
- Select Help > Manage add-ons... from the menu.
- Select Acrolinx for Oxygen and click Update.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
Uninstall
To uninstall Acrolinx for Oxygen XML Editor and Author as an add-on, do the following:
- Select Help > Manage add-ons... from the menu.
- Select Acrolinx for Oxygen and click Uninstall.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
