Version 4.3.0 (29 June 2026)
Bug Fixes
M365 Word: "Replace All" now applies corrections in the correct locations - Using the "Replace X Occurrences" feature on the sidebar issue card now correctly inserts the replacement text at the appropriate position in the document, particularly when Track Changes is enabled.
M365 Excel: "Check Selection" now only sends the selected cells for checking - When checking a selection in Excel, the integration now sends only the selected cell range to the Acrolinx platform, enhancing the check-selection performance.
Previous Versions
Version 4.2.0 (2 March 2026)
With this release, we've improved compatibility with Track Changes in Microsoft Word to ensure a smoother editing experience.
Improvements
Reliable functionality with Track Changes - In previous versions, selection and replacement using Acrolinx could result in errors when Track Changes was enabled in Microsoft Word. We have implemented improvements to ensure reliable functionality when revisions are displayed inline.
Note on "Show Revisions in Balloons" - Please note that the "Show Revisions in Balloons" view is not fully supported. In this mode, a warning message may be displayed.
Version 4.1.0 (29 October 2025)
With this release, we're adding support for Microsoft Purview Sensitivity Labels when co-authoring is enabled—so you can collaborate securely while keeping your content compliant across Microsoft 365. Read on for the details.
Improvements and new features
-
Support for Microsoft Purview Sensitivity Labels with co-authoring enabled - Acrolinx can now recognize sensitivity labels applied to a document when co-authoring is enabled in Microsoft Purview for your Microsoft 365 tenant.
To enable this feature, follow the manual setup steps described here. Connect with Acrolinx Support to activate it for your organization.
Version 4.0.0 (3 July 2025)
With this release, we're bringing Acrolinx to Microsoft Excel and fixing a pesky SVG error in Word—so you can keep your content clear and consistent everywhere you work. Read on for the details.
Improvements and new features
- Check with Acrolinx in M365 Excel - You can now run Acrolinx checks directly in Microsoft Excel. Review cell values, comments, and notes with the same guidance you know from Word and Outlook, right inside your spreadsheets.
- Support for cell-level text styling - Acrolinx now respects individual text styles within a single cell when you're using Microsoft 365 Office (Version 2501 [Build 18429.20040] or later).
Bug fixes
- Smooth checks for SVG-rich Word docs - We've resolved an issue that caused errors when checking Word files containing SVG images. Acrolinx now scans these documents without a hitch, so your workflow stays uninterrupted.
Version 3.2.1 (6 May 2025)
With this release, we've made improvements to how Acrolinx works in Microsoft 365 Word and Outlook to give you a more accurate and stable experience. Read on to see what's changed.
Bug fixes
- Better support for change tracking in M365 Word - We've fixed an issue in M365 Word where Acrolinx didn't correctly highlight or replace text if change tracking was turned on. In some cases, the wrong content was selected or replaced. Now, when you select and replace with change tracking enabled, Acrolinx highlights and replaces the correct content—just as expected.
- Check selection disabled in M365 Outlook - To ensure a smoother and more reliable experience in M365 Outlook, we've streamlined the interface by removing the Check Selection option. This change helps avoid confusion, as the feature isn't currently supported by the Office API.

Version 3.1.4 (18 November 2024)
We've fixed a bug that affected issue highlighting.
Bug fix
- Issue text not highlighted in PowerPoint - When you clicked on an issue card from the Sidebar, the corresponding issue text didn't get highlighted. The issue card also disappeared when you clicked the suggestion text. We've fixed this.
Version 3.1.3 (28 October 2024)
This time around, we've made a small UI improvement and we've fixed a bug that affected highlighting in Word and PowerPoint.
Improvement
- Improved UI - In the event that Acrolinx is no longer compatible with your version of Microsoft 365 Office, you'll now see a message directly in the Sidebar. For more information about which versions of Microsoft 365 Office we support, visit the Integrations Compatibility Guide.
Bug fix
- Highlighting issue - When a paragraph in Word or PowerPoint contained a column break, page break, or line break, Acrolinx wouldn't highlight it correctly. We've fixed this.
Version 3.1.2 (28 June 2024)
This release fixes a couple of checking bugs.
Bug fixes
- Replacements removed footnotes - Sidebar replacements would remove special elements from your content. These included things like footnotes, endnotes, and diagrams. We've added a new error to the Sidebar to make replacement behavior clearer.
- Highlighting issues - Acrolinx couldn't highlight issues in text sections that also contained special elements like footnotes, endnotes, or diagrams. This made it difficult to apply suggestions to your content. We've fixed this. Acrolinx now highlights the content as expected.
Version 3.1.1 (5 June 2024)
We've updated our 3.1 release to better align with your needs and included some bug fixes.
Improvements
- Check documents without MIP label - In our 3.1 release, we released a feature that prevents checking documents if Microsoft Information Protection is set up. We've changed this implementation to better align with your needs. You'll be able to check even if there isn't a MIP label set on the document.
NOTICE
Please consult our Acrolinx Support to configure checking a document without the MIP label.
Bug fixes
- PowerPoint with third-party diagrams - In some cases, when a PowerPoint Presentation had diagrams generated by a third-party solution, an Acrolinx check would lead to an error. We've fixed this.
- Grayed out cards - When you selected an issue card for a paragraph the card grayed out and Acrolinx didn't highlight the issue correctly. This is fixed.
- Paragraphs with footnotes or endnotes - Acrolinx can now highlight paragraphs with footnotes or endnotes. If there's an issue and the suggestion would remove or change a foot- or endnote, you'll get a read-only card.
Version 3.1.0 (12 February 2024)
This release comes with a highly anticipated feature: detection of Microsoft Information Protection (MIP) sensitivity labels. We've also fixed a handful of bugs that affected the checking experience.
Improvements
-
Support for MIP labels - If you protect your content with MIP sensitivity labels, we've got good news — Acrolinx now detects sensitivity labels in Microsoft 365 Office. This means you can exclude sensitive content from your Acrolinx checks.
TIP
To start using this feature, send a list of your organization's accepted sensitivity labels to Acrolinx Support.
Bug fixes
- Wrong word highlighted - Acrolinx would partially highlight a word or highlight the wrong word if the word appeared multiple times in your content. We've updated our lookup logic to make sure this doesn't happen anymore.
- Wrong order of Sidebar cards - In some cases, the Sidebar cards were out of order and would jump to random places when clicked. This is fixed.
- Check selection issue in PowerPoint - Check Selection wasn't working in PowerPoint for Microsoft 365. We've fixed it.
- Approved Messaging issues - Issues for the Approved Messaging goal in weren't working quite right. Highlighting was off and replacements weren't added correctly. Everything is now working as expected.

We're excited to announce that the Acrolinx Sidebar is now available in M365 Outlook online!
Improvements
- Check with Acrolinx in Outlook - You can now use a lighter version of the Acrolinx Sidebar to check your emails with Acrolinx. We can't offer the full Sidebar because of limitations in the API. Learn more in What You Can Check.
NOTICE
Note that for Acrolinx in Outlook you need to follow a separate installation step to install the manifest. Read on in Install, Update, or Uninstall.
Version 2.0.1 (3 November 2023)
Released 3 November 2023
This release focuses on a few issues that popped up in Microsoft 365 PowerPoint for the web.
Bug fixes

Improvements
Connection Details Layout in Sidebar
Good news! We've updated the start page that you land on when you access the Sidebar. Just a few small changes, but now it's more consistent across your integrations.
Bug Fixes
Sidebar Cards Grayed Out
Sometimes when you clicked on a Sidebar card, it would gray out for no reason. This happened when an issue had more than 255 characters. No worries, we've fixed it. Your Sidebar cards now work as expected.
Known Limitations
Documents Created in Word Desktop Not Supported in Microsoft 365
We recommend that you only use Acrolinx for Microsoft 365 Word with documents that you create in Microsoft 365. If you create documents with the desktop edition of Word and upload them to OneDrive, Acrolinx for Microsoft 365 Word might not read all of your content. This is because Microsoft 365 doesn't support all of the same features as the desktop edition of Word.
Track Changes Not Supported
If you enable "Track Changes" in Microsoft 365, unwanted characters might get added to your document when you click on a Sidebar card. To avoid this, we recommend that you switch off "Track Changes" when you use Acrolinx.
Acrolinx Icon Hidden
Sometimes, when you upload a file to OneDrive, the Acrolinx add-in icon doesn't show up where you'd expect. You can solve this by manually inserting the Acrolinx for Office add-in to Microsoft 365. Read more about this under "Where's my Sidebar?".
